2014 DISTRICT VETERAN'S DAY No. 1 - Woy Woy

The first of this years Veteran's Days was held at Woy Woy on Monday 11th August.   Even though it was very cold and overcast 71 players and 8 non-players arrived to join in the day.     Woy Woy President Di Elsom welcomed District President Pat Frewin and wished all a very happy day.     After morning tea the players braved the conditions and played bowls until noon.  Much chatter and laughter could be heard with everyone obviously enjoying themselves.   Although I am sure all were happy to get inside out of the cold.

A lovely luncheon was served and then it came down to the important part of the day for 10 special ladies.   3 of these lady's were excited to receive their 'Star Super Vets' Badge.   This means they are 90 years young.   The other 7 received their 'Super Vets' Badge being only youngsters at 80.   They all received a lovely fruit tray.   Congratulations to:

Star Super Vets:

Eileen Crawford and Nancy Griffiths [Umina Beach]

Kitty Patterson [Everglades]

Super Vets:

Ruth Pearson, Edna McKay, Jean Saggus [Umina Beach]

Pauline Davis [Ettalong Mem.]

Patricia Small [Davistown RSL]

Patricia Toohey, Edith Morrow [Woy Woy]

It is also tradition to find the 'Most Senior' Veteran and the 'Youngest' Veteran present.   It was lovely to see Lila Anderson from Umina Beach take out the 'Most Senior' and Helen Cooper from Everglades was the 'youngest'.  They each received a gift from the District.

Nine lucky ladies were also drawn out to receive fruit trays.

District President Pat thanked Woy Woy for their hospitality.   I am sure all enjoyed the day.
