2014 DISTRICT VETERAN'S DAY No. 3 - Terrigal

Terrigal Bowling Club was the venue for the last of the District's Veteran's Days.   Terrigal President Dianne welcomed District President Pat, committees and 80 Veterans to Terrigal and wished all a happy day.

After morning tea the players were preparing to go out to play bowls when the rain, which had been threatening, decided to start.    Instead they stayed inside and had a fun game of 'Hoy'.   However the rain did stop for a while and the players managed to get about an hour of bowls in.    Luckily they all just got inside for lunch when the heavens absolutely opened and the strong winds commenced.      I am sure all were glad that they hadn't been caught out on the green.

We all enjoyed a lovely lunch and then it was on to the serious part of the day.     Firstly 10 lucky ladies were drawn out to receive a fruit tray each.    Then District President Pat presented 5 ladies with their 'Star' Super Veteran's Badge.  All had attained the age of 90 years young.     There were also 7 Veteran's who were only 'youngster's' at 80 and they each received their Super Veteran's Badge.

Star Super Veteran's:

Bonnie O'Gorman,  Florence Smith [Bateau Bay]

Joyce Corbett, Elva Sharp  [Gosford City]

Paddy Hearn  [Terrigal]

Super Veteran's:

The 'Most Senior' Veteran present was Irene McIntyre from Mingara and the 'Youngest' was Jean Fortis from Wamberal.

District President Pat congratulated all these ladies,   thanked Terrigal for their hospitality and wished all a safe journey home.
