2016 CHALLENGE CUP

Halekulani was the host venue for this years Challenge Cup held on Monday 19th September.  After a very wet Sunday, Monday dawned with the sun shining through and although windy the conditions were ideal for the players.

The Challenge Cup is for players who played in Grade 4 (or have the equivalent bowling capabilities).     21 clubs entered one team of club selected 4 players.   As this made it an uneven draw, Halekulani was asked to enter a "B Team" who played to win but could not take out the trophy.     Two games were played consecutively, the first of 13 ends and the second of 12 ends, each team playing different clubs in each round.  The winners were determined on Wins,  Ends,  Margins.

There were 5 clubs who had 2 wins each.   Ends then came into it with 2 clubs having the same number of ends so it was then down to the margins.

Results were:

WINNERS:    NORAH HEAD

Valma Weir, Petah Ballard, Lois Bentley, Yvonne Smith

2 Wins;    16 ends;      17 margin

RUNNERS UP:   EVERGLADES

Beryl Barber, Patricia Bray, Elaine Harrison, Wendy Ide

2 Wins;    16 ends;      11 margin

District President Dianne congratulated all and presented the Winners with the Cup and individual trophies for themselves and their club.
