2016 State Championships
Congratulations to Margaret Smith from Avoca Beach winner of the 2016 State Singles. It was a closely fought final between Margaret and Shirley de la Harpe from The Hills District Club. They were level 8 times and it was a real cliff hanger with both on 24. Margaret was holding shot with 2 bowls to play, Margaret having the last bowl. She held her breath as Shirley delivered her bowl which did not alter the head and Margaret did not need to play her last bowl. An excellent final to watch and certainly had the crowds enthralled.
Lauren Williams and Tracy Osborne, Ettalong Memorial, in the Open Pairs won through to the Semi-finals and again in a close game were just defeated by Kay Moran and Karen Murphy from Cabramatta. Congratulations to them for making the semi's.
The Triples team of Judy King, Margaret Smith and Karen Croker won their first game but went down in the Quarter finals to St.Johns Park trio of Jan Agar, Sharyn Renshaw and Beth Quinlan.
