2017 VETERANS DAYS

The first of the Veterans Days for our District was held at Everglades Bowling Club on Friday August 25th.    It was a cold day but this did not deter the ladies from having an enjoyable day both out on the green and inside.  District President Dianne was delighted to present Veterans Badges to 8 ladies, Elaine Clemesha, Fay Cross(Everglades), Rebecca Blackwood, Helen Sykes, Robyn Webber (Davistown RSL), Carol Hawkesworth, Pam Fishenden (Umina Beach), Rita Farkash (Woy Woy).  Pres. Dianne was also a surprise recipient of one.    The 'Most Senior' Veteran present was Eileen Crawford from Umina Beach and the 'Youngest' Veteran, also from Umina Beach, was a surprised Lesley Swales (who was also there as District V.P.).   These ladies were given a small gift from the District.   Thanks to Club Pres. Jan and her ladies for their hospitality.

The second of our Veteran's Days was held at Breakers (Wamberal) on Monday 4th September. This was the smallest of our days with only 34 ladies attending but it was a most enjoyable, relaxing day.   The ladies had a lovely game of bowls and then a delicious meal.  Judging by the chatter and laughter all had a great day.    We only had 2 recipients of badges, Lyn Preston (Gosford) and Lorna Wales (Bateau Bay).  The 'Most Senior' Veteran present was Dot Rothery (Gosford) and the 'Youngest' was Jenny Wastell (Ourimbah). They each received a gift from the District.     Our thanks to Club President Lesley and her ladies for their hospitality.

The last of our Veteran's Days was held at Munmorah Utd on Monday 18th September.   Over 80 ladies attended this day and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine with a lovely game of bowls.   Munmorah provided a very nice luncheon which was enjoyed by all.    Again there was much chatter and laughter with all enjoying catching up with old friends and chatting to new ones.  The badge recipients were Valma Rayner (Diggers), June Stokoe (Norah Head) Star Badges and Patricia Gifford (Halekulani), Ada Trigg (Wyong) Super Badges.  The 'Most Senior' Veteran present was Gene Gordon (Canton Beach) and the 'Youngest' was Laurel Andrews (Wyong).   District President Dianne thanked Club President Bev and her social ladies for their hospitality.  She also thanked 4 non-playing Wyong ladies who got in and helped on the day.
