2018 DISTRICT SINGLES
The 2018 State Singles at District level were played from Monday 28th May to Friday 1st June at various venues throughout the District. 65 ladies entered this event. Earlier in the week the weather was lovely but as the week progressed gusty winds and cold weather made the playing conditions unpleasant for the ladies.
The quarter and semi-finals were held at Wyong on Thursday 31st May.
Quarter Finals results were:
Dianne Whittaker (Terrigal) def. Heather Frohlich (Gosford City)
Lauren Williams def. Rose Ednie (both from Ettalong Mem.)
Margaret Smith (Ettalong Mem.) def. Anastasia(Tess) Koutsellis (Terrigal)
Karen Croker (Avoca Beach) def. Keryl Gregor (Terrigal)
Semi-Final results were:
Lauren def. Dianne
Karen def. Margaret
The resulting final was played in very cold, gusty conditions on Friday 1st June at Gosford City. It certainly was difficult for the ladies who played lovely bowls despite the conditions. It was a tussle with the lead changing several times.
The end result was Karen Croker defeating Lauren Williams 25 to 20. Great bowling ladies and congratulations to you both.
Karen will now advance to the Regional playoffs to be played Sunday 15th July and if necessary Monday 16th. The venue for this event will now be Ettalong Mem. Bowling Club. We wish Karen good bowling in the Regionals.
