2018 Mixed Pairs
The 2018 Mixed Pairs commenced on Sunday 24th June at Wyong Bowling club. 40 teams entered this event making 10 sections of 4 teams. The initial play was on a sectional basis with each team in the section playing each other. This was 3 rounds of sets play consisting of 2 x 5 end sets and if necessary a 1 end tie breaker. The winners of each section then progressed to play on Sunday 1st July at Wyong. Play then became on a knockout basis.
Semi-finals:
Jackie and Ken Studdert (Bateau Bay) def. David Denniss and Judy Wheatley (Wyong)
Anthony Shoebridge and Diane Whittaker (Terrigal) def. Leanne Wadwell and Steven Donnelly (Halekulani)
Final:
The first set ended in a draw which meant the second set winners would take it out. What an exciting match coming down to the last bowls to determine the winners.
Anthony Shoebridge and Diane Whittaker narrowly defeated Jackie and Ken Studdert.
Congratulations to all these players.
Anthony and Diane will now play in the Regional playoffs against Lake Macquarie District on Sunday 15th July at Ettalong Bowling Club. We wish them good bowling.
