On 22nd September, 1967 Mrs Jess Gallagher formed a Central Coast District Official Umpires Discussion Group. The Group was formed with a few members and when it was well established, Mrs. Gallagher as Leader, retired and the new Leader became Mrs. Grace Buttonshaw who held this position from 1974 to 1981. From just a few State Umpires later National Umpires, the Group increased in numbers and at that time was considered to be one of the largest Umpires Groups in the State, boasting a membership of approx. one hundred and thirty-eight active National Umpires. Meetings were held every second month at the Central Coast Leagues Club, Gosford.   Numbers have declined but meetings are still held.
See programs for further details.   All are welcome to the discussion group.  You don't have to be an umpire to attend.

In October 2004, NSWWBA Umpires Board advised that Bowls Australia had adopted a new National Officiating Program for umpire accreditation.

Each District was requested to form a Sub-Committee and ours was formed on 17th August 2005 with
Ida Campbell [Woy Woy]Chairman; Valma Allen [Bateau Bay]; Norma Barry [Wyong]
Valma Allen took over as Chairman and Pamela Donnelly[Ettalong Memorial] joined the Sub-Committee in place of Ida Campbell in 2006. In mid 2010 this committee was reduced to Val Allen as the other umpires had decided not to re-accredit at level 2. In 2011 Pam O'Halloran from Avoca Beach became a Level 2 umpire and was been appointed to the Sub-Committee.   However due to illness of both Val and Pam, these positions were taken over by Lesley Swales, Umina Beach and Lorraine Barter, The Entrance
The Sub-Committee did the accreditation for all Level 1 umpires and State did the Level 2.

The Sub-Committees were disbanded at the end of 2014 due to the introduction of the new Accreditation system by Bowls Australia in 2015.

WBNSW held courses to train Presenters and Assessors [known as Umpire Educators by WBNSW] and these ladies are now responsible to accredit/re-accredit  Markers, Measurers and National Umpires.
