Winners Gwandalan with Dist.Pres.Pat

The Hetherington Trophy was commenced in 1949 and is an annual event open to all clubs in the district. It has only ever been washed out twice.

President Pat welcomed 176 players from 22 clubs to The Entrance on Monday 6th May and after morning tea the players took to the greens for their first game.

Each of the clubs were represented by 2 teams of 4 players, split into 4 sections. Sections 1 and 2 for clubs who field pennant sides in either Grade 1 or 2 and Sections 3 and 4 for clubs who field Grade 3 or below. The format for this event allows clubs who only field pennant sides in lower grades to have an equal chance of winning the event as do the clubs who field sides in the higher grades.

The conditions were a bit tricky with quite strong winds and fast greens making things interesting for the players. 16 ends were played in the morning then the players had a break for lunch. In the afternoon they played until the bell, at 3.00pm. It was lovely to see the spectators supporting their clubs.

While the Match Committee worked out the results, the District's raffle of a Comfit Pro Bowls Bag donated by The Entrance Bowls Shop, together with the Tombola prizes were drawn. Dist.President Pat thanked The Entrance President Pam and her ladies for their hospitality.

It was then time to announce the results:
