2012 Rose Bowl
This annual event between Newcastle and Central Coast Districts was played on Friday 9th November at Heaton Birmingham Gardens Bowling Club in the Newcastle District.
After a warm welcome and a lovely morning tea it was on to the green. 28 players [7 teams of 4] were selected from each district to play. The winner was decided on total aggregate score over 21 ends. What great bowls were played by both sides and it was close throughout the match. However at the end of the match Central Coast came out the winners 156 shots to Newcastle's 142 shots. Central Coast won on 5 out of the 7 rinks. Congratulations to our players and also well done to Newcastle.
After lunch Newcastle President Helen Abbott presented Central Coast President Pat Frewin with the Rose Bowl. The last time Central Coast won this event was in 2003 so players and committee were all excited to finally win the trophy once again.
Thanks were passed on to host club President Jan Kyle and her ladies for their hospitality by both Districts.
We look forward to defending the trophy and renewing friendships next year when Central Coast will host this event.
