The venue for the Region 6 Pennant Playoffs which were held on Tuesday 5th June was Belmont Bowling Club. The venue was changed due to the uncertain weather. Belmont has one covered green with a carpet surface. Grades 1 and 2 played in the morning. Grades 3 and 4 played in the afternoon. It was a bitterley cold day with the wind whistling through. Not ideal playing conditions.
Results:
Grade 1: Boolaroo [Lake Macq.] defeated Halekulani [Central Coast]
Grade 2: Belmont [Lake Macq.] defeated Terrigal [Central Coast]
Grade 3: Charlestown [Lake Macq.] defeated Davistown RSL [Central Coast]
Grade 4: Wyong [Central Coast] defeated Morisett [Lake Macq.]
The Grade 4 match was a 'cliffhanger' with the score being equal after 42 ends. Extra end had to be played by both teams with Wyong scoring 1 on each rink to clinch the match. There was great excitement all round.
The winners will now go on to the State playoffs to be held at Tuncurry/Forster from 13 to 17 August. We wish all grades good bowling.
