Winners and Runners up

May 24th was a very special day for the excited players who won the Grade 4 pennants. Wyong President Barbara welcomed District President Lesley, District Match rep. Lee, runners up Halekulani and her own Wyong ladies. She also welcomed their senior members who no longer bowl and past members who came along for the special day.

After a lovely morning tea the winners and runners up were led onto the green through a guard of honour to the sounds of 'Simply the Best'. The overcast sky and threatening weather did not deter the atmosphere. District President Lesley congratulated both the winners and runners up on their achievements and then together with President Barbara unfurled the Grade 4 Flag which immediately began to flutter in the breeze. Each of the winners was then presented with their badge, certificate and photo taken when they won the pennant. The runners up were presented with their certificates and photos. Not all the Halekulani runners up could make it but their places were eagerly filled by representatives of the other Halekulani Grade 4 side. It was lovely to see the comaraderie amongst all the players. The presentation just got completed when light rain fell but it did not deter proceedings. Bowls were commenced but unfortunately the rain did prevail so it was indoors for more celebration and chatter.

After lunch President Lesley wished the Wyong players good bowling when they go to the Region 6 playoffs on the 5th June at Charlestown. Pres. Ann from Halekulani thanked Wyong for a lovely day and Wyong Pres. Barbara thanked all for coming.
