2012 Singles
The State Singles at District level commenced on Monday 14th May. President Lesley and V.P.Pat opened proceedings at the two venues,Umina Beach and Bateau Bay respectively. Tuesday games were held at The Entrance with the Semi Final and Final being held at Ettalong Memorial on Thursday 17th May. Gorgeous autumn weather prevailed for all 3 days of this event.

Semi Finals
Margaret Smith(Everglades) defeated Beverley Jessup(Ettalong Memorial)

Final
Susan Clark(Umina Beach) versus Margaret Smith(Everglades)
The final, marked by President Lesley, saw Margaret jump to an early lead of 8 – 4 with Sue hot on her heels. Both girls kept their cool in a very tightly fought game. From the moment Sue drew level at 15 she seemed to go from strength to strength with Margaret never giving up and fighting on gallantly. The heads became closer and Sue took a 23 – 18 lead with the final result of 32 – 21 not truly reflecting the closeness of the match.
The wonderful display of sportsmanship and bowls on offer during this game was appreciated by all of the spectators who were out in force to cheer both girls on in this local derby.
Congratulations to our 2012 District Singles winner Susan Clark and Runner Up Margaret Smith. This is the second time Sue has won this event the last time was in 2005.
