2012 Grade 3 Flag Unfurling
Tuesday 8th May was a very exciting day for Davistown RSL as their very first Pennant Flag was unfurled. Their Grade 3 players had achieved this historic win a few weeks earlier at the District Pennant Play offs.
The day started out with a lovely morning tea. President Bea Seagrott welcomed District President Lesley Swales and District Match representative Leanne Perigo. She also was delighted to have State President Patricia Reynolds [who belongs to our District] attend on an unofficial basis.
The weather was perfect with just a slight breeze blowing as Davistown members formed a guard of honour on the green. Then the winners lead by Dist. President Lesley, State Pres. Patricia and club Pres.Bea together with the runners up Terrigal who were lead out by Match Rep. Leanne marched on to the green between the guard of honour up to the flag pole. It was then Pres. Lesley's pleasure to unfurl the Grade 3 Pennant flag which immediately began fluttering in the wind. The winners: Marilyn McLoskey, Marion Love, Susan Taylor, Patricia Jenkins-Green, Carol Moore, Ann Ross, Isabell Carr and Merilyn Dullo were then presented with their badges and certificates. Terrigal runners up: Colleen McArdle, Veronique Jewell, Elaine Clarke, Keryl Gregor, Dianne Bailey, Lynne Bourne, Mavis Garrick were then given their certificates. Brie McMurray who was part of the runners up side unfortunately couldn't make the presentation.
It was then on for an enjoyable game of bowls for the members and guests, it was a special Swans and Signets day.
The day concluded with a luncheon and celebration all round with some champagne.
Well done to Davistown RSL and we wish them all the best when they go to Charlestown to play off in the Regional Playoffs on June 5th.
