2012 Hetherington Trophy
The Hetherington Trophy was commenced in 1949 and is an annual event open to all clubs in the district.
Vice President Pat welcomed 176 players from 22 clubs to The Entrance on Monday 7th May and after morning tea the players took to the greens for their first game.
Each of the clubs were represented by 2 teams of 4 players, split into 4 sections. Sections 1 and 2 for clubs who field pennant sides in either Grade 1 or 2 and Sections 3 and 4 for clubs who field Grade 3 or below. The format for this event allows clubs who only field pennant sides in lower grades to have an equal chance of winning the event as do the clubs who field sides in the higher grades.
President Lesley joined everyone for lunch and the players returned to the greens for their second game.
Although overcast and rather cool quite a number of spectators cheered their teams on.
Two games of 16 ends were played by each team. Each clubs teams results were then added together to give a result for that club. A total of 4 games per club, each game against a different club.
While the match committee tallied the scores the CCD raffles were drawn. There were a number of tombola’s and The Greens The Entrance bowls shop donated a bowls bag.

WINNERS - Umina Beach with 4 Wins 43 Ends 104 shots.

This is the 5th time Umina has won the trophy, the last time being in 1996.

President Lesley congratulated the players and thanked the Umpires Pam O’Halloran (Avoca Beach), Colleen Winder (Avoca Beach) and Lorraine Barter (The Entrance) along with committee members from both club and district for their assistance.
