2012 Pairs
2012 Pairs
93 teams contested the District Pairs which commenced on Monday 13th February at Halekulani, Terrigal, Ettalong Memorial and Avoca Beach. Tuesday games were held at The Entrance and Wyong.
The quarter and semi finals were held at Davistown RSL on Thursday 16th February. It was great to see so many spectators supporting their clubs.
Quarter finals:-
A. Koutsellis - Terrigal def. D.Chalklin - Bateau Bay.
A. Pamplin - Everglades def. E. Vincent - Everglades
D. Ellison – The Entrance def. E. Cohen – Bateau Bay.
S. O’Connor – Everglades def. B. Bartle – Umina Beach.
Semi Finals:-
A. Koutsellis - Terrigal def. A.Pamplin - Everglades
D. Ellison – The Entrance def. S. O’Connor – Everglades.
These games were tightly fought and a number of games went right down to the wire with scores tied going into the last end.
Friday morning saw the finalists play under clear skies at Woy Woy. Many spectators from Terrigal and The Entrance as well as from other clubs enjoyed the terrific bowls on display from both teams.
Winners:- Lorraine Murphy and Anastasia (Tess) Koutsellis – Terrigal.
Runners Up:- Nicole Parker and Denise Ellison – The Entrance.
Although both skips have played in a number of district finals, Nicole was playing in her first district final and Lorraine only her second.
Congratulations to all the players.
Over the last few years the runners up from the previous year has become the winner the following year and it was no different this year. Lorraine and Tess were runners up last year and took out the event this year. Will this trend continue next year?
Terrigal club certainly are a force to be reckoned with in 2012 with 3 wins out of the 3 events that have been played so far this year.
