2011 Lakes Trophy

2011 Lakes Trophy

Lakes Trophy
Central Coast
Lake Macquarie

The 2011 Lakes Trophy was held at Toronto Workers Bowling Club on Friday 28th October. Thank you to President Pat and her ladies from Toronto who made us most welcome.

President Irene from Lake Macquarie welcomed us to this annual event between our two districts. After morning tea it was on to the green to do 'battle'. This event has been going since 2000 with each of the districts winning on 5 occasions. Todays match would put one of us in front on wins.

28 selected players from each district divided into 7 teams of 4 commenced their friendly rivalry. 21 ends were to be played. It was a very closely fought affair, with the overall score being level many times throughout the match. One district would make a break only to be caught up again and this is how it went until the final ends. Congratulaltions to all the players. Great bowling was witnessed and the match was played in the right spirit.

The results were:

Lake Macquarie 137 shots Central Coast 123 shots

Each district had 3 rink wins and a draw

Central Coast can take some consolation in the fact that they won 82 ends to Lake Macquarie's 65.

Congratulations to Lake Macquarie who retain the trophy for another year, having won it for the previous 2 years. This now gives them 6 wins to Central Coast's 5. We look forward to changing this in 2012 when Central Coast will host this event.
