The Challenge Cup is an event for players who are of Pennant Grade 4 (or equivalent) or lower.

Having won this event last year, Umina Beach were the host club for this year's match which was held on Monday 19th September. An overcast morning greeted the 88 players but soon cleared to a warm, humid day with a slight breeze.

President Lesley welcomed everyone at morning tea and then it was on to the greens for 2 games, the first game was 13 ends and the second was 12 ends. The many spectators who had come along to support their own girls witnessed some very closely fought games. A lovely light luncheon was served and it was time to start the formalities of the day.

The District raffle winners were 1st Margaret Pond - Gosford City, 2nd Pat Toohey - Woy Woy and 3rd - Marie Godfrey - Bateau Bay.

Chairman of Match Pattie Payne then announced the results.

The Runners Up from Canton Beach with 2 wins 17 ends and 35 shots were Margaret Kelly, Shirley Warner, Judy O’Connor and Joanne Whittaker (skip). They were presented with certificates by President Lesley.

The Winners from Terrigal, by a narrow margin of 1 end, with 2 wins 18 ends and 33 shots were Anne Ashman, Sadie Wallace, Margaret Hickey and skipped by Lynne Bourne. President Lesley presented them with individual trophies and called on Terrigal VP Rose Bendall to receive the perpetual Challenge Cup to be held by them until the event is run at Terrigal next year.

The day concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
