On monday 25th February at Gosford City Bowling Club the Past President's Association celebrated their 40th Birthday, Hostess Day and also held the Ruth Shoebridge Shield. President Judy Crawford welcomed Central Coast Past President Assoc. Pres. Narelle Richardson who in turn welcomed special guests Newcastle Past President Assoc.Pres.Betty Corcoran and Secretary Kay White and CC District President Pat Frewin and Secretary Dianne Elsom and 90 Past Presidents and their friends.

After morning tea 80 players took to the greens in very hot, humid conditions to contest the Ruth Shoebridge Shield, an annual event. The winners this year were Lorraine Griffiths, Lorraine Murphy, Valerie Davis, Naida Caughey [Terrigal] who were presented with the Shield to keep for one year. Runners up were Kath Leeson, Gwenda Thomas, Pat Thornton, Margaret Evans [The Entrance]. All the 'losers' were given a second chance with a random draw for a prize. The lucky ladies were Isabel Boughton, Gloria Burt, Ronne Scroggie,Lee Whitten [Davistown RSL].

A spider was held on the green before play commenced and the 3 main spider winners were Karen Croker, Isabel Carr and Marianne Sheppard.

Two new members were welcomed to the Association by President Narelle and presented with their badges. Pat Kearton [Avoca Beach] and June McBurney [Wyong RSL]. It is lovely to see new members.

Hostess Day is held to thank committees and especially the President of the Association. President Narelle was presented with a lovely gift and thanked for her time and effort during her term in office. She was also presented with a beautiful box of roses donated by P.P. Beryl Brown.

The Central Coast Branch of the Past President's Association was formed in 1973 with Freda Sommerville being the Foundation President. Since then 20 ladies have held this position. 4 meetings are held a year at Gosford City Bowling Club, usually on the second friday of February, May, July [AGM] and October. 3 Special Events are held each year. The Ruth Shoebridge Trophy, Charity Day and Christmas Party Day. [The dates for this years meetings and events may be found under 'Programmes' on this website.] Money is raised throughout the year and donated on our Christmas Party Day to one of the hospital auxilliaries: Gosford, Woy Woy and Wyong on a rotating basis.

We were delighted to celebrate with Past Presidents and friends 40 years of this association.

After a lovely day President Narelle thanked Gosford City for their hospitality and a special thanks were made to the Social Ladies who prepared the beautiful luncheon which was enjoyed by all. They were each given a gift in appreciation.

The day ended with the singing of the National Anthem and all were thanked for coming.
