D Group Championships 2011
The D Group Championships were held at Maitland City Bowling Club with the host District being Hunter River. Play commenced on Monday 25th July after some worrying time with all the wet weather that had occurred over the previous week. However the sun came out and even though it was a bit windy conditions were ideal for the players.
Our ladies did very well and did the District proud. Through to the State playoffs to be held at Tuncurry Bowling Club in October are:
Triples: Daphne Lowe, Suzanne Murphy, Maureen Kerr [Ettalong Memorial]
Fours: Margaret Saunders, Dorothy Dorrington, Julie Grant, Jan Hiron [The Entrance]
Our Singles player Judy King[Everglades] had a tremendous game against Sarah Vesenjak [Raymond Terrace] an Australian player but unfortunately went down.
The Pairs players Lauren Williams and Tracy Ward[Ettalong Mem.] had a good win against Belmont in the first round but went down fighting to a Maitland City team in the final.

The State playoffs will commence at Tuncurry Bowling Club with the Fours on Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th October followed by the Triples on Monday 10th &Tuesday 11th.
