2011 Grades 3 and 5 Flag unfurling
District President Lesley and Chairman of Match Winsome were welcomed by Avoca Beach President Pat on Thursday 16th June for the unfurling of their Grades 3 and 5 Pennant Flags. A guard of honour was formed by the Avoca Beach members and their guests, Davistown RSL and Bateau Bay. After a lovely morning tea and with the sun peeking through, the Grade 3 and Grade 5 winners from Avoca Beach together with the runners up G3 Davistown RSL and G5 Bateau Bay were lead on to the green by Presidents Lesley and Pat to the tune of 'Simply the Best'. President Lesley together with Chairman of Match Winsome unfurled both pennant flags simultaneously. Badges and certificates were then presented to Grade 3 winners Avoca Beach and certificates to runners up Davistown RSL. It was then Grade 5's turn with badges and certificates to the winners Avoca Beach and certificates to runners up Bateau Bay. The rain started just as this was being completed but it was great that we managed to get this in on the green. Everyone then headed inside where President Pat 'tested' our minds with quiz sheets. There was a lot of laughter and I think Davistown RSL and Bateau Bay got their 'revenge' on Avoca Beach by winning 2 out of the 3 lots of questions. All in all a lovely day was had by all.
