2011 Fours
DISTRICT FOURS 2011
The District Fours commenced play on Monday 31st January under very hot conditions with players managing to get through two games. At Ettalong on Tuesday a decision was taken to play one game only per day due to the extreme weather conditions. This resulted in the quarter finals being played on Wednesday morning and the semi finals being played on Thursday morning at Avoca Beach Bowling Club. Results were P. Robson's team from Munmorah United defeated B. Chalkin's team from Bateau Bay; J. Hiron's team from The Entrance defeated E. Gould's team from Umina Beach.
The final was played at Gosford City on Friday morning under very hot and steamy conditions. Both teams were neck and neck for most of the game with The Entrance able to keep their noses in front winning by three shots. The game was played in good spirit and sportsmanship and as is often the case it is a shame there can't be two winners because the standard of play was excellent by both teams.
Winners: Margaret Saunders, Dorothy Dorrington, Julie Grant and Jan Hiron (The Entrance).
Runners Up: Doris Kirk, Helen Stevenson, Kay White, Pam Robson (Munmorah United).
District President Lesley Swales congratulated both team on reaching the final and presented the winners with their badges.
