State Pairs:   This event commenced on Monday 14th October at Tuncurry Bowling Club.    Judy King and Margaret Smith from Everglades were up against Patricia White and Christine Coleman from Wagga RSL in the first round.   In windy conditions they had a tough match but came out the winners.   The afternoon Quarter finals were played in very gusty swirling, cold, windy conditions.    The team from Adaminaby, Aylene Madden and Lynette McMahon proved too strong for Judy and Margaret who had trouble coping with the wind.    Congratulations to Judy and Margaret on their effort.

The eventual winners of the State Pairs was Judith Croft and Deborah Wilson from Bomaderry who played a magnificient final against Shirley de la Harpe and Debra Howard from Castle Hill.   It came down to the very last bowl played as to who won this event.

State Open Fours:  Commenced Wednesday 16th.   Our ladies from Ettalong, Lauren Williams, Valerie Brownlie, Valma Wynn and Tracy Ward had a close game against Merimbula Imlay but forged ahead towards the end to win the first match.    In the Quarter final they faced up against the Dural team skipped by Pamela Watson and again had a good win after a tough game.   It was then into the Semi-final the next morning where they had to play the defending Champions from Cabramatta  Kay Moran, Claire Turley, Julie Keegan and Karen Murphy.  Our girls started well and lead for a few ends and then kept up with their opposition until about half way through the match when the Cabramatta ladies stepped up a gear and forged ahead.    Our ladies aquitted themselves well and can be congratulated on reaching the Semi-finals.

The eventual winners of the State Fours were the Cabramatta team who defeated Maree Harman's team from Kotara in the final.

State Singles:    Margaret Smith from Everglades was our representative in this event which commenced on Friday 18th in cold, cloudy and rainy conditions.  Margaret played Veonne Brown from Lithgow City and had a big win again her.   She then played Bronwyn McPherson from Engadine in the Quarter finals and again had a good win.     She then met Coral Withers from Pottsville Beach in the Semi-finals Saturday a.m.  who gave her a tough game, they ended up playing 35 ends with Margaret coming out the winner which then put her into the final against Sarah Boddington [Bomaderry] who had beaten Karen Murphy in the other semi-final.    Margaret tried her hardest but had no answer to Sarah's consistent bowling.  Margaret said she was thrilled to make the final and thoroughly enjoyed the game.   Congratulations to Margaret on such a great effort.   To be the State Singles runner up is a great achievement.   Congratulations also to Sarah.  This is the second time she has won the State Singles.
