2013 LAKES TROPHY

The 2013 Lakes Trophy was played at Valentine on the 28th October.    Lake Macquarie President Fay welcomed Central Coast President Pat, Committees and Players to their District and wished all a happy day.    After morning tea 28 selected players in teams of 4 from each District went out to 'do battle' in a friendly way for the annual trophy.

The Lake Macquarie teams got off to a flying start on their home surface with all 7 teams leading from our girls after a short time. However, Central Coast gradually got the feel of the synthetic surface and began to stem the attack from the locals.  The weather was perfect and the surrounds, as you can see from the photos in the gallery, were just as perfect.

All Central Coast teams staged fight backs - some more successful than others, but not for the want of determination and teamwork from girls from the Coast.  It took some great bowling from Lake Macquarie to hold onto their lead, but hold onto it they did.  All credit to the ladies from Lake Macquarie who outbowled Central Coast on the day. The final score was Lake Macquarie 158 and Central Coast 123.

Unfortunately, only one Central Coast team emerged victors on the scoreboard and due congratulations to them!  But if we were measuring sportsmanship and true grit then the score was even for all.

President Pat from the Central Coast congratulated the victors and reluctantly handed over the trophy to President Fay from Lake Macquarie. She also promised to return next year to collect it.  President Fay gave us a fitting reminder of the closeness of the matches in the past when she informed us all that each district had now won the trophy seven times a piece.

Keep that trophy safe and well polished Lake Macquarie as we will be back for it next year!
