2014 Ruth Shoebridge Shield

The annual Ruth Shoebridge Shield was held on 24th February at Gosford Bowling Club. Club President Judy Crawford welcomed President of the Past President's Association Floss Irvine to her club and wished all a happy day. Pres. Floss in turn welcomed all Past President's and their guests from clubs throughout the Central Coast District. There were 22 teams together with non-players in attendance.
After a lovely morning tea of home made scones, jam & cream [greatly appreciated by the ladies] it was on to the green, firstly for a fun 'spider' and then on to the 'supposedly serious' game. Although all the laughter heard was a sign there was more joviality then serious bowls. Eventually the bell was rung at 12.30pm and the ladies proceeded inside to more friendly chatter. The Gosford Social ladies provided a very nice luncheon and our thanks to them for their efforts.
After the tombola prizes were drawn and the lucky door prizes distributed it was on to the results of the shield. The winners hold the shield at their club for the next 12 months and this year it will be residing at Wyong Bowling Club. The Winners were Barbara Jansen, Mary Anderson, Judy Henderson and Pat Frewin. Congratulations to them. Runners up were Margaret Hains, Elsie Peterson, Brenda Hill and Noreen Bolten-Wood from Diggers @ the Entrance.
President Floss thanked all for coming and also thanked Gosford President Judy and her ladies for their hospitality. A great day all round.
The next Past Presidents event will be their Charity Day to be held at Terrigal Bowling Club on Monday 14th July.
