2014 HETHERINGTON TROPHY

Monday 5 August, at The Entrance Bowling Club, 21 of our clubs met to compete for the Hetherington Trophy for 2014. The weather was perfect and the sight of 176 of our members on the greens, all keen to take home the trophy, was outstanding. Clubs entered 2 teams of 4 whose combined match wins, winning ends and aggregate score were calculated to decide the eventual victors.

After morning tea and welcome from President Pat Frewin, all 44 teams took to the greens for their first match of 16 ends. Competition was keen and results were varied. Those teams coming in to lunch with a win under their belt were hopeful of ultimate victory.

All enjoyed a short break and a delicious lunch served by the ladies from The Entrance before resuming battle. Whilst the competition was serious, it was friendship and sportsmanship between old and new friends that abounded.

At the completion of their second game everyone retired to the clubhouse for more refreshments and of course for the announcement of the winners.

Match Chair Pattie Payne and her committee had the onerous task of collating the figures while the players relaxed and were entertained by the Social Committee’s tombola and raffle prize distribution.

The calculations done the winners and runners up were announced.
