2014 CHALLENGE CUP

The 2014 Challenge Cup is an annual event for 4 selected players from each club whose playing abiliity is Grade 4 or lower or equivalent.   Past District President Thelma Hutchison introduced this event in 1997 and the winning club each year is the host venue for the following year.      Wamberal were last year's winners and were therefore the host venue for this year.

Wamberal President Pam Dring welcomed District President Pat Frewin, committees and players and wished all good bowling.  She then handed over the preceedings to District President Pat who in turn welcomed all.      After morning tea it was on to the green for 2 games, one of 13 ends and the second of 12 ends. A different club being played for each game.     Some great bowls were played by all.   There was great laughter when an 'additional player' in the shape of a very lively brown dog decided to join in on the greens.   Luckily no bowls were disturbed and the dog was eventually shooed away.

We were lucky with the weather and the Match Committee breathed a sigh of relief when the games were completed.  The winning team was decided on Wins, Ends, Score.

The 2014 winners were:

THE ENTRANCE with  2 Wins,  17 ends,  32 shots.

Catherine Petronzio, Elizabeth Adams, Lorraine Barter, Norma Barry.

Runners up were:

DAVISTOWN RSL with 2 Wins, 16 ends, 37 shots.

Narelle Breese, Kerry Hutchison, Pamela Price, Florence Irvine

Congratulations to these ladies and all  who were chosen to represent their clubs in this event.

District President Pat presented the trophy to President Margaret Oliver and her ladies who each received an individual trophy to keep, as did the club.

Wamberal were thanked for their hospitality and all wished a safe trip home.
