2014 ROSE BOWL

On Friday 14 November 28 selected players, officials and supporters travelled to Edgeworth Bowling Club in the Newcastle District to contest the Rose Bowl.   This match is played annually between Central Coast and Newcastle Districts.

Edgeworth President Robyn Hoga welcomed all and then handed the proceedings over to Newcastle President Helen Abbott who in turn welcomed Central Coast President Pat Frewin and players.

After morning tea it was on to the green for the 7 teams of 4 players from each district.  21 ends were to be played in rather hot windy conditions.    However as the morning progressed and the temperature soared to nearly 40 degrees play was abandoned.   As the required number of ends to constitute a result had not been completed the trophy was retained by last year's winner,   Newcastle.

All players, I am sure, were glad to get into the airconditioning.   After lunch President Pat from Central Coast presented the trophy to President Helen from Newcastle and said we look forward to meeting again next year at a Central Coast venue.    President Helen thanked the host club and all concerned and wished all a safe trip home.
