2015 Sport NSW Community Sports Volunteer Awards

The Sport NSW 2015 Community Sports Volunteer Awards night was held on Friday 21st August at Parliament House.

The following is from Sport NSW:  'Each year the Community Sports Volunteer Awards are held to reward and recognise the contribution of hard-working volunteers, and the best practic management of volunteers, which is critical in sustaining sport for the benefit of NSW communities.'

'The Community Sports Volunteer Awards consists of two elements.   Firstly, the Individual Awards, recognising the contributions of volunteers in the capacity of officials, coaches and communnity sport administrators - who give life to community sport.  Secondly, The Minister's Sport Volunteer Management Awards, commends sporting organisations that have shown innovative ideas and management techniques in the recognition and recruitment, education, training and coordination of volunteers.'

Lesley Swales was nominated for 'Official' of the year by WBNSW.  She is currently Chairperson of State Umpires, accredited National Umpire and Educator and has officiated at numerous State Championships and Pennant Play-offs.    Lesley is a member of Umina Beach WBC and also on the Central Coast District

There were 16 finalists from various sports around the State and Lesley was one of them.    She was delighted and very proud to have received this recognition.    The winner of this section was from Gymnastics but each of the finalists received a trophy recognising their input into their sport.

Congratulations to Lesley.
