2016 ROSE BOWL

The 2016 Rose Bowl played between Newcastle and the Central Coast annually was this year played at Kotara Bowling Club in the Newcastle District on Friday 11 November.     The weather was warm and humid but tolerable for the 28 players from each District.  A nice breeze came up late morning which certainly helped.

Newcastle Vice President Judy O'Brien welcomed all to the event [she was standing in for President Gail who was playing] and wished all a good game.    Central Coast President Dianne Elsom responded and then after morning tea it was on to the green to commence play.   There were 7 teams of 4 players from each District.   21 ends were to be played and the winning District was determined by the aggregate total of all rinks.     Central Coast tried their hardest but on the day the Newcastle ladies were just a little bit too strong.   Newcastle won on 4 rinks with a total of 139 shots with Central Coast winning on the other 3 rinks with a total of 126 shots.

Congratulations to Newcastle.      Central Coast President Dianne presented the trophy to Newcastle Vice President Judy.  They will retain it until next year when they travel to Central Coast District to once again play this event.
